We had some reblooming iris in Md. When we purchased them, we were told to apply a slow release flower fertilizer to them after the first blooming. Also to be sure they got 4-5 hours of sun each day, and have plenty of organic matter in the soil. They bloomed in Spring, and again in late August. I'd be curious also as we are planning on getting some more reblooming iris now that we're settled here in Alabama.

Thanks rjbman. I will definitely go out and fetilize tmorrow. They already get all day sun. I will keep you posted if I get some more flowers this month or next.

Hello. This is my first year growing a reblooming iris variety ("Lady Friend.") It has just completed its first blooms and they looked very nice, though they only lasted a couple of days. My question is: Do you deadhead the plant to encourage reblooming later or just leave it as is ? Thanks !

Hi, ms xeno. I did what rjbman suggested and fertilized last summer, but mine did not rebloom. I take the dead stalks off all my iris. Hope you have better luck than I do. Maybe others might have suggestions. Actually my reblooming Encore azalea doesn't rebloom either. well maybe a scattered bloom here and there. I am really disappointed in the reblooming stuff. My stella d'oro lilies are the only ones that rebloom well.
