Wouldn't hurt to have a small trellis for it.I grow Arapaho & Navaho.I have posts beside each plant-then ran a lenght of 4 ft fence down the rows.I cut each fruit bearing cane off after it has fruited for the year--about Sept 1st.They fruit on the new canes.I also mulch around them with hay to keep weeds down.I fertilize with compost & a general fertilizer the middle of April.Hope this helps.
