Yeah, it's been a strange season for sure. My Wisteria is reblooming. I have never seen Wisteria bloom in August before either. It may be because we had such a late Spring...beats me! Betty

well, my dogwoods were less than spectacular this year. I think their initial blooming was seriously harmed by some colder wet weather. .. Most of the blooms were very small and they rotted away and wilted quickly. . .

Would be neat to see them bloom again!

Glad to hear that others are having unusual blooming in august

Are you sure that you see blossom buds? My dogwoods are putting on berries with seeds in them, soimetimes two or three to a cluster where they bloomed last spring. They will turn red this fall if the birds don't get them all first.

My garden club seems to think the re-blooming might be because of the hurricanes, and the barometric pressure. Not science but theory. We had spring flowers blooming in Pensacola in November after Ivan last year and then there was Dennis this year.

:-( My Grandmother always said "Blooms out of season, trouble without reason." Whereupon she pinched the offending bloom, and tossed it away. Hope you all have a good evening LOL

Here in Auburn I have a Bird's Foot Violet blooming about 6 months out of whack.

I am curious to know whether your dogwood did indeed bloom again? Many plants will bloom a second time when there is a cool spell and rewarming after the first bloom, but I never heard of Dogwood doing that.
BTW the berries on mine are turning red now. Did your buds turn red?

Yes, my dogwood trees did produce new flower buds, but none of them have actually bloomed. Interesting to see red berries righ alongside new buds though. I'll keep watching to see if any actually do bloom

My dogwoods here in south al.are putting out buds and have seed turning red at once ,but they have done that before .I dont get blooms until early spring.some one asked me the other day why they were setting bud so early and I didnt think it was unusual .I have however had my japanese magnolia bloom off and on all summer.

Down here in Mobile, we are enjoying new leaves on the pecan trees, the hickory trees,etc. And, I have azaleas which lost all their leaves in Katrina newly leafed out and some bloomers. The ornamental cherry, which did a spectacular job in the spring, is putting on leaves AND pale blossoms as well. I KNOW it is because of the hurricane. Don't know about barometric pressure, but we have this happening all over town.

This is July 2020. I have two "pink" dogwoods that bloomed in April, normal, but now in late July they are blooming with large beautiful "white" blooms. I understand the change in color may be due to soil PH but to bloom this late and such large blooms is welcomed. Normally these two pink dogwoods have small pink blooms, pitiful. Maybe they heard my threat, if they don't start making better blooms, they're gone. Hopefully this is also a sign that my blueberry bushes will produce more fruit next year.

August here in Sacramento area. Hot as heck and my dogwood is reblooming too. Never had that before! But I’ll take it!
