Swap on the 11th

Sorry I couldn't make it this time. How was it? Good turn out? Lots of newbies? Good location? Linda

I was supposed to be there, but I'm in Florida. My Dad died mid-day friday at age 62. My mom died at 61 this february, so its been quite a year.

I miss seeing everybody and will try again next time.

Todd: We missed you. I'm sorry about your parents. They were much too young.

We had a good time at the swap. Not the biggest turnout ever, but enough for some interesting plants and good company, including a few newbies. Several of the regulars were missing for various reasons, but we'll look forward to seeing everyone in the Spring.

One suggestion: Next fall let's plan ahead for an October date. It was still pretty hot the other day, but more than that, it was too early to dig some of the plants. As soon as the football schedules come out next year let's grab a free date. ;-)

Linda, the location was wonderful. It was so pretty and peaceful. We were right on the water and the parking lot was shady for the most part. The park rangers came by and we persuaded them to take some plants. It was a long drive but it is only fair that we spread it around the state so those who often come from that area don't always have the long drive.

We had three new people, Julia Bartosh, Patty Tyler and another lady whose name I am embarrassed to admit I have forgot. We had Wayne Smith; Jodi Morgan with husband Vince and their sweet granddaughter; Peggy McVay and her beautiful daughter, Alice, Ken and me. After lunch Wayne said he had only about an hour's drive home. When all is said and done, I would choose Wind Creek for another swap. The spot in Gadsden get my vote as well.

Todd, will find this interesting. We had both been led to believe that Sho'Nuff BBQ was one of the 10 best BBQ joints in Alabama. I'm here to tell y'all it was OK ... only OK! Locally, Lloyd's (Hwy 280), Golden Rule, Costa's and Johnny Ray's BBQ sho'nuff leaves Sho'Nuff BBQ in the shade.

Todd, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad. I know we talked about your Mom last spring and I'm shocked and saddened about your Dad. I'll say a prayer for your family tonight.

Hey, Todd -- you're good. My daughter and I have decided we have a learning disability when it comes to names and numbers. She even found a recognized diagnosis for the condition. ;-)

Wind Creek is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but it's a 4.5 to 5 hour round trip drive for Ken and me. Once in a while that's OK, but somewhere farther north would work better for us.
