Zone 4 annuals

I'm having a hard time finding the info for when I can winter sow annuals? Zinnias, morning glories, veggies, portulaca...

Thanks!

Did you check Trudi's records on wintersown.org? I know that she has a bunch of zone information, perhaps you can get what you need...

Depends on your last frost date. Ours in MN is May 15 though we can still get frost so some wait until the end of May to plant out frost sensitive annuals.

Some annuals are listed as hardy annuals and can take a bit of frost and can be sown now. I usually wait until the mid/late April to start sowing tender annuals.

If you know how long and at what temps each takes to germinate you can count back that far from your last frost date. Then count back another week or so to give the seedlings some time to grow before planting out.

March in MN has been very warm and next week temps will be in the 70s. I am going to sow all my annuals then and if I need to bring the seedlings into the garage or cover with something if frost is threatened then I will.
