wildflower ID needed

Perhaps someone can ID the wildflower I am seeing around Gadsden - I cannot ID it after looking through several books on wildflowers. The plant is about 1 to 2 feet high and the leaves, which alternate on the stem, are about 2 inches long and look just like a post oak leaf! The yellow to yellow-green blooms are in a very loose panicle and are pendant. There are about a dozen petals each narrow; the stamens (about 6) and pistil are prominent. It's in bloom right now.

TIA
