check to see if there is a paper mill, etc., nearby - you might have to shovel, but it beats paying for it....That is what Jan & I have been doing down here - we love it!

Don't know about B'ham, but here in Georgia almost all the electric companies deliver woodchips to you. Be warned, they will not deliver until their truck is full - so you end up with a pile of chips about the size of a VW Beetle. Also, it's fresh, so expect some internal smoldering and occasional smoke. Call the electirc companies and EMCs in your area and see if they will deliver. Here you have to spot a crew out trimming trees and ask for the chips. Another warning, once you get a load from them, they'll come by now and then to see if they can dump another load on you.

That would be cool with me! I hope to catch Asplund (the tree trimming company) next time they are out my way - i can let a pile sit and decompose if needed!
