Fine Gardening -- I've been taking it almost since it started several years ago and find that it always has interesting, useful information along with excellent photographs. The tips submitted by readers are often quite helpful. There is also an index on the publisher's (Taunton's) website which makes it easy to find references to plants or concepts from past issues.

I'll be interested in seeing what others think.

FINE GARDENING...by far is the best gardening magazine that I have ever taken. I have almost all of them since the first publication. It is great for novice gardeners and even master gardeners can learn from it. I added to my collection by buying issues off eBay and quite often had to buy duplicates to get certain issues that I was looking for. I would also like to recommend Alabama Gardening. It is a magazine that is put out in several states and deals with things that are grown in that particular state...There is a Louisiana, Tennessee, etc. version.I have also enjoyed getting this magazine.

My favorite is gardening how to, has so many good ideas and helpful hints. Have almost every one since I started getting them, when I start a new project like to refer back to them.

I absolutely love Garden Gate. Each issue comes with hole punches so they can be saved in a three ring binder. That's a huge help for someone like me who holds on to gardening magazines forever! Plus when they feature a garden they also include the site plans so you can see what is planted where, and they provided a guide to show you where each photograph was taken from. (I don't know if you've realized this or not, but pictures can be very deceiving.) This way it's very clear how they got the perfect shot.

I've also found their staff to be very well educated and up to date on gardening practices. They don't support the many gardening myths out there that still manage to get circulated (like adding sand to clay soils, can we say concrete?).

Hope that helps. I still buy most magazines I can get my hands on this time of year because I just love looking at all the possibilities out there and can't wait for another growing season.

Only one? I can't choose--love Gardening How To,Garden Gate,Horticulture,Garden Deck & Landscape.Now I have to add Fine Gardening to my list :(.I see another bookcase in my future!
