I will hazard a guess of an old cornus florida dogwood. Basing it largely on the leaf veins

I thought it was some sort of dogwood originally, but never flowers.

Agree, Cornus florida. Perhaps in too much shade to flower.

Remember, you can always tell a DOGwood by its BARK!

Well, I guess I will see if it flowers next year. Cut down a bunch of winged elms around it. Should get some more sun now.
