Hello!..I just purchased four bulbs of Lilac Pink Giant Flowering Onion-"Allium stipitatum" and 15 bulbs of Yellow "Allium Moly". Any advise on how best to plant them in my garden in my zone 5-6 climate? We have had a mild winter, but are beginning to have some cold stormy days...freezing temperatures, etc...but for the most part, I can still dig and work the soil in most areas of my garden. I know that many plant Alliums in the fall, but I was told they would still flower this year if I got them planted now(is this correct?...Should I put them right in the ground?, or start them in pots indoors or outdoors?)..I have a raised area near my pond and flagstone patio that I was thinking of for the Alliums...it is a raised bed of garden soil with a layer of sand on top(we were going to lay flagstone there too, but changed our mind and now its more space for my plants:)...I wanted to create a dramatic focal point there with various plantings that are good with each other when some are not in bloom, etc. Any suggestions for good companions for the Alliums?...thanks!...GardenLove
