Token's swap rocks

I have sprouts popping up everywhere from the swap--so many that I'm frantically thinking ahead to where in the world I'm going to put things. Not that I'm complaining.

So thanks again to all of you who generously sent in seeds and to Token for organizing the massive effort. I'm already looking ahead to the next wintersowing swap:)

I'm glad you're happy KT. I hope everyone got some really cool plants this year. There were some great seeds in that swap.

Yes, thank you token for all that work you did for the swap. I think we are all doing happy-sprout-dances now. :o)

Carol, don't feel bad because I read it the same way you did!

I have rocks. Lots of rocks. I used them to edge all the beds except the "meadow". It gives me something to weed whack against. Anyone wanna trade? I need a rather large one for a rock sculpture I want to do in the backyard.

Must admit, my first thought was "I'd love some cool rocks, but wouldn't that cost a lot in postage." My second thought was, "What do I have to trade with."

A few years ago I wanted some cool rocks and my son offered to bring me some river rocks. I asked where he could get them from and he said the state park. I told him you couldn't take rocks out of a state park!!! A few years later we went there for a walk and all the rocks were gone. I guess someone else didn't know the law.

LOL Bev. What do I have to trade. I need a new garden fork. I broke mine last month thanks to one of those huge rocks. And yes, they are heavy. BUT...did you know that the USPS offers flat rate boxes? Payback for all those extra stamps they require on bubble envelopes.

LOL "...Payback for all those extra stamps they require on bubble envelopes." LOL Love it!

Nice yard, by the way, Token!

Glad I'm not the only one who read this wrong,ha ha
Wouldn't it be fun if we could actually do a rock trade, several years ago, my friend and I went to a rock offer, it was offered by the child of a scienc teacher, who traveled the world, he would have have rocks shipped to his home, you would not have believed the huge rock piles in his yard, Unbelievable to say the least.Piles were every where, like mini mountains, from all over the world, every small building he had on his property, was full also, whan you looked in the window of his home, all you could see, in the bedroom, was his single, sagging bed, rocks were every where. The family was letting the puplic take what they wanted for free.By the time we heard about this, most had been picked over, but we still were able to load our pickup truck, two times,we worked our buts off,ha ha,
I was hoping to find a Rose Rock,so I really searched, in one of the shacks out back, looking through the window, sitting on the sagging back shelf, was a Rose Rock, I was scared to go in, cause the thing was about to fall in on it's self, but I was very careful, and I grabbed the Rose Rock, along with a coulple of pieces of a huge one that was broken.I still have them, one of my favorites.
He aslo had precious gems, that were auctioned off long before we got there.
I moved two times, half of the rocks I received, I gave to my friend, the other half, went into storage, two times, and I still have them to this day.Ya gotts love your rocks.
A few years ago, we went to Colorado, and came back with so many rocks, there was no place for me to sit, used them for a foot stool,ha ha
We did take a two from a state park, but did not know untl we got home you could not do that,I still feel bad about that, but we did not know any better.I would never do that again.
If you go visit the Crazy Hourse, mountain, you can for a small donation, buy as many rocks as you want, that they blast from the mountain, some are very pretty, yes, we did buy some,ha ha
I bet we could all post pictures of out treasured rocks, as we do of our gardens.

I love the episode of I Love Lucy where she tries to bring home the rocks from vacation. My husband doesn't understand the enjoyment I get from rocks. I've always wondered, is it more a woman thing? Does it stem from a need to build a home, kind of a nesting thing? Call me a neaderthal, I guess.

Not just women. My husband is the one who brought a couple of rocks back from Moab (not sure if it was from Arches or not).

I also remember that Lucy episode and occasionally it will pop into my mind, always brings a smile.

Does your rose rock look like a rose? Some online sites use rose rock to describe reddish rocks but not rose shaped.
I would love one of the rose shaped ones.

Thanks for the info about Crazy Horse monument rocks. I will check that out this fall when we are in the Hills.

In many areas farmers have rock piles at the end of fields and are happy to have people take some away.

Most of my rocks are used as stepping stones in my gardens but I have one basket of smaller rocks collected in 2000 when I traveled with DH around the US. Also collected some sand from both coasts and the Gulf of Mexico.
