I'm reluctant to use it and don't know that I will. There has apparently been a problem since January, so that makes me think that photobucket site administrater isn't too good about this stuff. Really makes me mad because I have tons of WSown photos stored there since 2006. When I get time I think I'm going to open an account elsewhere.

Some people don't believe that we got the virus there, becase they haven't gotten it. But I also used the site since 2006 before it hit me, a fact they don't seem to consider.

My husband has restored internet service to the infected computer but it still has 4 trojan viruses. I only use that computer to read email or other stuff and not to send email or even post to gardenweb. I am using his clean laptop to post now.

Proudgm, I know you said someone else repaired your computer, but can you find out what program they used? It might help me a lot!!!

I really hate using a laptop.

I've been afraid to go there since Karen told us about her problem. I'm so busy with school and it's nearing the end of the semester when everything is due, so I can't be without my computers or I'll be really really up a crik.
So I'm waiting until after school's out and then make sure all my i's are dotted and my t's crossed (virus, trojan removal software and such) before I even DARE to go to PB.
I felt so bad for you Karen, hearing what you went through :-(

Now that my husband got the infected computer back on the internet he is trying to work on the trojan virus. Malware scans seem to eliminate them, then they recreate themselves. So they're all back- more than I can count.

Again, we run Symantic malware and firewall all the time on that computer and those things were in place when I got hit. I wish I had a way to notify PB but I can't find a way without actually clicking on their site, which I am NOT going to do.

Karen I think it was the Malware program that came with my McAfee security system. It removed the trojan virus. The second time the computer quit working my techie said it was a hardware problem and we had to restore the computer to the way it was when it came from the factory. Luckily I had bought an external hard drive last year and had moved all my pictures, documents, etc. to that. I complained to my internet provider who supplies the McAfee with their service and they said that new viruses are being created faster than they can keep up with the anti-virus software.

Thanks, proudgm. My husband said he tried the restore function and the virus blocks that.

He's working on it now; I'm on his clean laptop.

have you tried downloading Malwarebytes, it has saved my puter more than once.

Daisy, we've had that for a long time, not working on this virus. My husband has run it numerous times- it detects the virus but can't get rid of it ( I should say can't get rid of them because it is a group of several viruses).

I have't had any problems with Photobucket at all.
