My 'Purple Sensation' Alliums behave very differently depending on where they are planted. In the drier areas, the foliage dies about the time the plants bloom (but the do bloom as expected). In the cooler, wetter, shadier area (which still isn't wet--bearded iris thrive there), the foliage stays green much longer. In any case, if you don't deadhead them, they reseed like crazy.

Mine are toppling over too; the stem looks weak, brown and almost wet in a localized spot appx 3" below the beautiful bulb/bloom, and then the upright bloom turns over, so the bloom is hanging upside down. I wondered if it had to do with the onslaught of the catapilar (sp) worms we have been plagued with this spring. But haven't seen any on these alliums...
