I only grow garlic that comes from the grocery store and starts growing. Strangely enough I am getting a fabulous crop from that this year, if I can tell by how large the plants are. Several people have asked if they are leeks, they are so big. BUT, I read the Seed Savers Exchange catalog, and they have many, many types of garlic, and describe each with a paragraph. They say which are hottest and largest and so on. They have many heirloom varieties. I mean to plant some from them someday.

I harvested {{gwi:79776}} a couple of days ago. The description in the seed catalog mentioned that it was a hot garlic. I tasted a sliver of it raw and it made my eyes water, nose run and my mouth burn.....and I like hot chilies! It is a very hot garlic indeed! I purchased my garlic from Territorial last Fall.
