What is this?

Hello all! I've got some kind of onion growing in my backyard. I'm not sure at all what it is... it almost appears it was planted since the soil is great around it (mostly clay elsewhere). Here are a couple of pictures... can anyone help me identify?

They seem to have huge stalks with very small bulbs and have a strong odor of garlic (though look like tiny onions).

One of your photos shows it growing in what might be a flower garden (violet nearby) If that's the case, it might be an ornamental allium of some kind, but I think it really looks like hard neck garlic that wasn't pulled the first year so all the cloves sprouted in a bunch. If you pull one of the bulbs and it looks like garlic cloves instead of one single bulb, it is garlic. If a single bulb, possibly flowering allium.
