bottom watering. Put an inch of water in a saucer and let your containers cool their feet.

Another vote for bottom watering. I use a large tub and can water many at a time. Fast and easy.

Definitely bottom watering. When sprouts are small, top watering can wash them out of the dirt or flatten them. If you do a gentle mist, it can take all day to adequately water a decent number of containers.

Wow, that's an idea I never thought of, a turkey baster! Great idea! :) I don't know if I will do it this way next year, but I set my hose to shower and water through the vent holes. I completely cut the tops off of most of my jugs this year, and next year I will leave a little bit attatched as a lot of people here suggest so that I can open them easier. I think the way I water may have effected germination as I may not have gotten an incredibly even water in the flats...but I'm lazy, so I'll just keep doing it this way until the tops are off all the time! LOL**
