Yes, my catawissas are very strong, pungent, hot even.

The basal bulbs get so hard they are difficult to chop, so I switch to using topsets when they are soft and young. By fall there are a lot of new green sprouts to use.

I'm new at this and haven't caught on yet as to what to eat when on this plant! I have so much fun looking at them, that I forget to eat them at the right time.

I've been growing them for years, and generally only use the topset bulbs and small greens. The little bulbs make excellent pickles. The coarser bulbs are good for soup.

The one I've made in the past havn't been very good.

Is it all onions?
I used to have a mixed veggie and mustard pickle recipe and I don't know where it went. It had small onions in it, and boy was it good.
