peggy how did the music perform that i mailed to you?

i planted music, georgian crystal and german white from that same source, about 150 plants and some grocery store softneck about 12 plants that has done rather poorly compared to those 3 hardneck varieties. hardnecks 99% grew but the softnecks only about 50% grew. i've been cutting and eating scapes for about 8-10 days. some are really HOT, they are all in a bag not sure of the variety but since 85% of the hardneck is music i figure it's music that's hot. most scapes have been cut now, maybe 10% remain and are just about at a full curl. haven't dug anything so no idea of results. plants are starting to dry/yellow on the lowest leaves, no water or fertilizing since starting to cut the scapes. i suspect i'll dig a few around july 10 to see if they are ready to dig. harvest should be around july 14 to 23 up here.

I'm so glad I saw your message!

I harvested my garlic 2 weeks ago and it's drying nicely. Unfortunately, I got some of it (6 varieties in all) mixed up. The ink wore of the metal tags. ^%^(*$))! Hopefully I'll be able to sort it all out when I clean em up for storage. I have descriptions of the ones I'm not familiar with. I planted about 200 cloves in all. Oy!!

BTW, I planted 3 "Wes" tomatoes this spring. One succumbed for unknown reasons. 2 are doing fine but no ripe ones yet....we're in severe drought here. Only early maters so far. One of my favs, BCW is just starting to ripen. Can't wait to taste ole Wes.

hi,

i have 1 wes and i have picked just 2 so far and they were excellent. the plant looks very healthy. prue has lots of fruits but nothing getting color yet. i have eaten sun gold, azoychka, grandfather ashlock and kosovo.

still waiting for prue, dr. lyle and tom's yellow wonder. aunt gertie gold looks to produce a ripe fruit about mid september!

Hey Tom,

I'm happy to report that the garlic is excellent! It's the best looking harvest I've ever had. Only 2 bulbs were relegated to the "eat asap" basket. We've been living on bruschetta lately and everytime I make it I try to sample a different garlic. So far I like music best. I have 2 types that I haven't positively identified yet. Over the weekend we had company and we ate lots of garlic. When people came through the door the aroma was overwhelming, Lol!
