I planted onion sets just about an inch or two into the ground in march. The point of the onion was exposed to the air. I have lots of green stalks, many are flopped over.Some not. Also many of the onions seem to be completely submerged under the dirt. Should the onion bulb be nore exposed to the air? Does it matter that 90% of the onion covered by soil?
