Bill, a softneck with big bulbs, big cloves, and from me? I was thinking before that the only softnecks which I had left over in abundance would have been Inchelium. Looking back now, Inchelium Red didn't impress me enough to plant back more than a half dozen cloves. However, the one softneck that got a row of 16 was Simonetti. They were really big bulbs for such short plants and at least one acted like a pseudo-hardneck. That's possibly one of those which were in your mix.

As for Inchelium particulars, clove count supposedly is 10-20 and streaked with purple or red. Mine were all on the low end of the count but the color was right. However, bulb size was not huge. In fact, it was Simonetti that was second only to Music for the largest bulbs in 2004.

ok-I just pulled my first 2 bulbs.
1 is 41/2x4 and the other is 41/4x4inches.
Both fell over and were dried down to a few green leaves.
They are both red striped I would say.
More on the maroon color with the stripe,not dark pink or really red.
They both only have 4 large cloves,thats it.
Martin from your later sent mix would you have any idea as to possibly what variety I have pulled?
Anyone else have an idea?
All my garlics have between 7-9leaves(8average with most having the first leaf dried off since about after the first month of spring growth came on)

Sorry Martin,in my hast to repost the query for the third time due to the first 2 posts being refused to the posting or something I guess it didn't come out right.
Those 2 bulbs I mention were I assume hardnecks and 1 of them had a scape.I was wondering which hardneck they might be.1 had a scape and 1 didn't and they both had 7-9 leaves which I have noticed all of those with scapes did.

Those 2 I feel may be softneck(you say maybe Inchellium)that I tagged never grew a scape-are growing strong still(equal leaf yellowing,not ahead of the hardnecks)and only have 4-5 total leaves.
When I pull the (Inchellium?)softnecks I will keep in mind your posting they should have 10-20 for a clove count and streaked with red/purple.
Thank you very much again for your post and I'll also be looking for the purple coloring streaks you mention to compare with what I call maroon.
