Musik or Elephant?

Not sure which one I have. This is my second year with garlic. Harvested last year from cloves and replanted either rounds or bulbils. Can't recall. I know I started with 2 different garlics. I believe Musik and Elephant. Pulled a couple of stalks out and it is mostly white with some bugundy striping/shading. Also, the bulbils on the top are all busting out and are a rich bugundy color. I am not sure if they are even ready to be pulled. Most of the stalk is dieing - little green left. I have some other garlic that are single stalks growing much smaller than the previously mentioned in a different spot. Could this be elephants? They don't seem ready at all - small and green stalks but the bulbils are forming! I wish I knew what I did last year when I planted in the Fall - planted bulbils, planted rounds??

Are there any korms, corms, bulbils (whatever they're called) attached to the bottom of the bulb, under a layer or 2 of bulb wrappers?

The bulbs with those 'things' are more than likely the elephant. I don't know of Music to have those.

Also, I believe (if memory serves me right) that elephant is pure white, so I might lean towards Music with the ones that are exhibiting a bit of burgundy coloration on the bulb itself.

No idea how the bulbils on top might work into classification, my scapes are cut off and eaten long before they have a chance to open.

What you are describing sounds like a composite of just about anything EXCEPT Music and Elephant! Elephant garlic doesn't make bulbils but rather seed heads just like leeks and onions. Music does make bulbils but so small that they could almost be mistaken for soft seeds. Color of the bulbils range from purple to white. One thing is right in that Elephant bulbs are always white while Music bulbs can be streaked with reddish-purple. Elephant bulbs would be the only ones with additional bulblets growing from the base of the proper bulb.

    Angie,
Elephant puts up a seed scape, no bubils on it. Musik or music, puts up a scape which developes bubils. Elephant has very large cloves, Here, 4 or 5, and usually has a few "corms" or small, flat on one side bubils clinging to the bulb head or embeded in the wrapper, or both. Sometimes on what looks like a connecting string or root.
So, any that have scapes with bubils are not elephants.
I strongly recommend marking the rows with tags and makeing a garden map. I sometimes even manage to do so and don't lose the map.

Music and elephant have very different looking scapes. Elephant scapes do not curl, Music does.

Based on what you all had to say, I still am not sure but it is not Elephant. I had bought one Musik and one Elephant from Jung Seeds in WI, and I do believe I threw in some store bought cloves that weren't looking too hot 2 years ago. Incidentally, Musik must have two spellings huh? Jung Seeds spells it with a "k" and a broader search indicated a "k". I thought that you must think that I am a total doorknob but now I realize it must have both spellings. Thank you for your input. I will study and stare at my garlic with your input in hand.

Angie, according to the stories which originated with Music/Musik, it was supposedly intended for release as Music by the initial Canadian grower. Somewhere along the line, someone called it Musik and that was the name that has stuck with it in some companies. The originator of the variety was slow to correct it, if it indeed was or was not the intended name. Jung's has it listed again as Musik and that is based upon the fact that their supplier is still calling it Musik. Almost a case of something existing under two names due to two languages but being the same thing nevertheless. In reality, it should have been given an Italian name since that is where it allegedly originated from!
