Normally a garlic that forms one large clove is called a "round", and if planted in the fall it will develop into a normal, multi-clove bulb next year. Yours, however, looks rather large. In any case, since it is already sliced open, enjoy!

I thought about growing it so I could get a bunch of huge garlic cloves like this. But even if it were to grow true, which it won't, I'd only get one clove in return for planting one clove. Hard to increase numbers that way.

Romainian Red is also known as Red Elephant Garlic... that may be a standard sized round for elephant types.
