I think it's all the rain. I have a much higher percentage than usual of bulbs with one or two rotting cloves. Each time I sort and trim them (still curing), the pile of questionable bulbs gets bigger. Next week I will put the good cloves from the bad heads in the dehydrator as opposed to just letting them rot.

The only reason could be HIGH HUMIDITY, not allowing the to dry fast enough. This is after the fact , but a small fan could help to circulate air.

The problem with drying garlisc is that they are harvested with lots of green tops and it takes a long time to dry and in the mean time slows down drying the bulbs.

Another possible cause :, Maybe you harvested them too early !!

Maybe I did harvest them too early. This has been a very strange year for weather, though.

I don't think it was too humid in my garage--in past years I have cured them on my front porch which is much damper (sometimes rain even getting on them some) and it worked fine.

If you have been growing your garlic in the same place for all 5 years then perhaps the virus load is getting too high and it is time to rotate your crops.

And perhaps you might not want to plant the diseased garlic anywhere in your garden.
