WS for Swap

Our Columbus swap is set for 5/30. I don't want any plants, but I do love to donate. I have potted up Lychnis volunteers and some WS parsley grown from my own seeds. I'm thinking of woodland phlox, echinacea and I have two bleeding hearts all potted up. What else can I come up with?

Do you have a swap in YOUR town? We Storygardener and Princess Mimi who graciously host ours every spring.

Well, it's not in MY town (actually 3+ hours away), but the GW Rocky Mountain Forum is having its annual spring swap on May 9th, Singcharlene is hosting. See link for details.

bakemon, didn't you say you have a lot of larkspur volunteers? Maybe pot some of those?

Great idea. I know there are those out there who have problems growing them. I have all kinds and they re-seed all over. fun!

I wish there was a plant swap close by!
p.s. i've heard larkspurs don't transplant very well.

My neighbor and I host plant swap on Friday of Memorial day weekend here in Skokie, north suburb of Chicago. It will be our 3rd year and we have been successful previous two, I got to meet and make friends with lots of people. Am getting done lots of work in the garden and potting up tons of the seedlings. Plant swaps are great for anyone- people with lots of experience and newbies- come and meet us.

Oh I might be able to make it to Columbus. I wonder what I could bring?

Floodthelast, at the swaps here, newbies are encouraged to come, even if they have nothing to bring. It's a potluck kind of thing, so newbies can always bring food. When I divide perennials in the spring, I pot up the extras for the swap. Lots of people bring unrooted cuttings of things like groundcovers (sedums, iceplants, etc.) Of course, lots of folks bring extra wintersown sprouts, or indoor sown ones. Some people even bring houseplants. It's all good! One man's trash is another man's treasure!!!

We just had a swap for all of those who post on the Oklahoma Gardening Forum. We had a lot of different plants, a few pots, and seeds. We had a pot luck and a drawing for lots of door prizes. It was fun to meet everyone.

I took about 25 plastic flower pots, some tomato plants for a man who had lost his to an unexpected freeze, and 22 Balsam Impients plants. The Balsam grew fast and was easy to pot up as individual plants. It was my first time to go and it was fun. I look forward to another one in the fall.

jaynine- Have you checked out the New England forum? That's where most (if not all) of the swaps in our area are set up. Check it out, and if you don't see a post for your town/area, put up a post to either host, or ask if there is usually one. Seems to me there are a couple of CT swaps usually.

Well I should certainly have enough WS white bellflower to share. There's always my bee balm starts too. I would love to go and put some faces to the names.
