I"m in the PNW also and don't know why your garlic would have been so different this season. All of mine performed fairly regularly except a few varieties were a little smaller than usual which I assume is because of some dry spells we had.

Maybe it's some genetic trait emerging, possibly due to some condition change whether it be seasonal or soil. I wonder if you had much rust on the plants this year? Sometimes the stress shows itself in the bulbs.

Overall it doesn't sound like a bad thing, large cloves are desirable i'd think. And I can't see any reason not to plant them again. You may want to separate those just to see how they do compared to the regular ones.

Thanks. I may try that. I did have a little rust not too bad. I plant 3-400per year and rust was maybe 15-20 bulbs if that.
