Wow, it works!!!

This was my first year trying winter sowing. While I believed that it worked, I doubted that it would work for me. However today I noticed sprouts in 8 of the 15 or so containers that I planted. Now I'm sorry I didn't plant more.

One of my successes is blue wave petunias. I saved the seeds from my plants from last year, and used half the seeds indoors and the other half were wintersown. Of the ones I planted inside (and babied along), I only got two sprouts. The jugs outside are full of sprouts. Of course I don't know if they will come true from seed, since I've always bought plants before, but it will be fun to see what happens.

I too am impressed with the results of wintersowing. So far I have had a very successful first year. Now I have new confidence to try other seeds. I'm dangerous in any store with a seed rack. I bought some today as a matter of fact! I need more seeds like I need more holes in my head!

Good luck on your petunias. I'm even thinking of giving them a whirl for next year. I wouldn't have dreamed of even trying them before this year. I LOVE Winter sowing!!!

Wintersown petunias are the best! Petunias - any variety - don't necessarily come true from seed, but they're lovely anyway! And WSed petunias bloom forever ....
