cold stratification time ?

I promised my girlfriend last fall that I would winter sow some amsonia hubrechtii for her over the winter and I forgot all about it until now! I know these germinate freely in MO, KS area, but I just looked at the cold strat time on Tom Clothiers and am concerned that I don't have time....

Here's what it says: Amsonia hubrichtii, illustris, orientalis, and tabernaemontana , Sow at Max. 5ºC (41ºF) for 6 weeks, move to 20ºC (68ºF) for germ. in a few days. If no germ. in 3 wks, dig out seeds and give them 8 to 12 hr. soak.

Given the suggestion of soaking the seeds for 8-12 hours, do you think I should just soak them first? I could keep the pot in the refrigerator for a week or two, also, if it gets too warm here in WI....

Any ideas about getting these going this year?

Thanks! Mary
