I got 6 Mambos from Parks clearance. Gave 2 away as Christmas gifts. None of mine have formed roots yet, even on my heat mat. But slowly they have opened their first buds today on stubby little short stems. One of them is growing on a nice 12" stem but it is not opening yet.
The one opened fully in the photo fell out of the pot and got his face a bit dirty landing in someone elses pot, but he is sort of like the grungy little kid with the beautiful cheerful smile!
I just read on the internet that Mambo is part of a group that were bred to be pot flowers sold in January with shorter stockier stems. I would say they succeeded!. It seems to me like the face is very similar to Minerva.
Liza, Mambo is La La La Bambaaaa pretty! =) The blooms look huge and look at those big fat buds just waiting to burst into bloom! =) Thanks for sharing.
Very pretty, Lizalily! I happen to love Minerva, so these colors are right up my alley! The shape is quite different... I think it would look great paired up with something not so uniform... I'm sure you have lots of great ideas for arrangements!
my mambo from parks has also just opened in the last few days. although it seems to be getting squishy :( {{gwi:377798}} i do like how all the blooms opened at the same time though.
ZubaBaby, all your Mambos blooming all together look absolutely stunning! How beautiful that both scapes were able to flower in correlation with each other. But you remarked that the flowers wilted fast? Did you keep record as to how long they lasted? Thanks for sharing. =)
Ohhhh lol, I just read it again.....squishy means crowded! Sorry for the confusion, beautiful flowers though and I thank you for sharing your beauty with the community. =)
