Identification please?

Last year I winter sowed Sea Holly and kept the seedlings over the summer. In fall when I planted them out I did not expect them to survive because the roots seemed 'shallow', not well-established as I expected. But this spring these two 'things' presented themselves in the exact postition I planted the Sea Holly (the plant marker is still there), but I don't think they are Sea Holly. I have lots of weeds but none like this. The leaves are quite thick and smooth, much like a Bergenia, but with no red tinge. Any ideas? Thanks.
