Whole house pic looks like the original was quite light. If you decide to return to the original concept, you might have it bleached. If you don't care for that, at least it will be clean and ready for whatever you decide you prefer. I would be curious about using rustoleumtransformations.com new product that people are redoing cabinetry with. I could see this home in black myself! Someone posted recently suggesting that black is quite popular now for homes in Europe. Seems to me a perfect idea for your place, if you're not hooked on wood.

What a brilliant home! I can definitely see why you would like to keep the original look. Cedar has natural preservatives so eventhough it may look a bit weathered I'm sure it still have a good number of years left in it with the right care.

There are different settings for pressure wash (not to be confused with sand blasting) and I would recommend hiring someone who is a professional to come and wash the house, sometimes a bleach or vinegar treatment is needed if you suspect mold. This will help remove the dirt and grime that sits at the surface but it will also reinvigorate the natural oils and the color. If you decide to use bleach make sure it is on a cloudy day so that it doesn't bake the wood or over bleach in places. Then you can treat the exterior with a sealer and preservative. If you would like to boost the color a bit I would recommend buying a few stain samples and testing them in an inconspicuous place.

You probably have red cedar siding on the house. Suggest you Google 'Red Cedar siding' and find a distributor/manufacturer. I know when I have questions about white cedar I can call Maibec. I hope there is a similar company for red cedar...maybe check with a large Local building materials supplier to see where they buy their siding.
