OT - Holiday Plans?

It looks like my gardening will be interrupted.

This was delivered to the driveway a few minutes ago:

{{gwi:28142}}

SWMBO gets home at about 1:15 this afternoon, and is off all of next week. The dumpster gets picked up on Monday the 3rd.

I imagine the next 11 days will be spent arguing about the difference between trash and treasure.

What will YOU be doing?

I have planned to plant. I will plant ws tomatoes and peppers, finish planting ws flowers, planting garden center tomatoes and peppers, planting garden center flowers. Direct sow many seeds for more plants. Once I'm done planting I'll go back to the garden center and get some more plants to plant in spots that don't have enough of planted plants.

Is there a drink with the name plant in it, I'll need to plant my self down on Memorial Day afternoon and have one.

I'm going to a Science fiction convention in KC. No, it's not Star Trek! Lots of sci-fi authors and artists will be there along with a few hundred of our friends. We are having a big room party and will be serving lots of our home-brewed beer.

Donn, I will be in a hotel partying with a bunch of strange and wild people so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be having more fun than you. OTOH, I'm been planning on getting a dumpster for a few months to get my basement clean out so I am a little jealous that you're getting it done and my house will still be full of junk.

donn, you've given me a lot of good laughs, but this one takes the cake. WAY to close to home.

I'll be trying to wrap up my ELM so I can post on the SCM forum. And here too because I love you guys.

    Wishing you marital bliss,

In between finishing up the rain barrels and doing rain dances - and trying to get all the concrete in for new raised beds, I will be throwing frantic freakouts to the super rock sounds of the Fleshtones tonight, and assorted other surf and garage bands on Sunday. I know some folks view rock and roll as the Devil's work (so tisk on me for a Sunday freakout), but I thank God for 3 chords and a little fun!

My friend from California is coming for a visit. When my good buddy lived here I taught her to garden and to winter sow. I miss her, and she has nowhere to garden at her new place.

Planting planting planting.... I have been told quite sternly that it is time to "share" the deck with the stuff that is suppose to go on it (wicker set, indoor tropical plants that have to come out,a couple of lounge chairs)and that these trays and cut up milk cartons and and and and and HAVE TO GO. I am going to create a little holding area in an area that doesn't get much traffic but also doesn't get full sun (it really warmed up here today) Sunday night is the deadline - we are having company for dinner.

For that dinner I am going to learn to butterfly a leg of lamb, rub it down with garlic and herbs and grill it!Sure hope all the sharp knives are not rusting out in the garden from when I was dividing hostas!

Good Lord, Donn. You must have as much junk as we do! My new mission is to get a piece of junk out for the garbage man each week. Next week it's my son's old computer desk.
When he graduated from college 3 years ago my son dumped all the junk, including furniture, accumulated in 4 years of school, into our house. He moved to the other end of the country the next day and the junk is still here 3 years later. Mom moved to a retirement center a couple of years ago. Where did the junk go? My house, which is why I now have 2 dining tables in my dining room. This junk gotta go.

Donn, I hope you'll post a pic of the full dumpster.

My sympathies, Donn - the trash/treasure thing will probably get bequeathed to the children here, as if they didn't have enough about us to annoy them already. I know you'd rather be planting.

I'll be in the garden after I return from work this morning, and trying to foist as many transplants from 10 full trays of WS transplants as I can(these are what's left after I planted what I wanted in my garden, and I've barely scratched the surface) on my Mom.

Gardening, gardening gardening - it is what we do holiday or not - we will do babyback ribs of the grill on Monday and catch some of the racing on Sunday both Indy and but mostly the World 600 - other than that you will find hubbs and I out where we love it the most - in the garden :):):)......

I made Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa)'s wheatberry salad! Ina touted it as the most popular salad she sold when she had her retail store. It's everything she said and more! So easy, fresh, and good for you.

Anyone want the recipe? I can email it or you can find it on Foodtv.com - the Food Network site.

God, this looks like a frickin commercial! Middle aged diabetics/dieters unite!
