The northern side of my yard gets early morning sun and then shade from noon on.

This should be fun. Explaining to the wife why the containers are on the lawn. She is understanding, but this might push it. After all, the yard looks like a bomb went off with the debris and dirt from taking out the old wall.

My husband used to complain about my leaving dumpster found bricks, cobblestones and pavers, half finished walls too, containers all over the yard not to mention the tools in every possible place, lasagna gardens with nothing in them, half finished gardens, etc.

Then last year we had our property assessed by two realtors purely out of curiosity and discovered that the value of the property had increased by 78% in just 7 years. The biggest change? There were no gardens or shrubs when we moved and only 40 % of retaining walls as compared to today. The realtors made it very clear that the gardens were IT. No changes were made to the structure of the house.

Now he says nothing and actually has started to garden this year.

My mother used to say that to create a materpiece, one must always create a mess beforehand and one can always tell how great the masterpicece is going to be by the size of the mess. :O)

That's my theory on minor renos..house looks like a bomb hit it, but it's all worth it in the end.

I wish I started this project one week earlier though. For the past week, It has been raining on and off and making things kind of mucky and muddy out there. Supposed to be like this till Saturday morning. So I covered the dirt piles real well.

It still doesn't give me an excuse to have my WS babies in their containers though. 8-(
