I planted mine out on May 7 and they're still tiny and doing nothing.

My WSown toms were just planted out today. They ranged in size from about 2" tall to 8".

Our weather has stayed mostly cool, cloudy and rainy recently. Today a little warmer, turned sunny around 5pm. Tomorrow BAM! Sudden summer and 87°. All 80s in the 10 day forecast. I sure wish my mulching was done. That's gonna be a hot job :-(

I have other tomatoes that are still quite small, including some that haven't put on any height to speak of for the last 2 months. I also have teeny tiny cantaloupe vines that haven't grown much either. The tomatoes in the pictures have a short DTM, and that's probably why they are in such a hurry. I am still not sure I am going to get any ripe brandywines this year.

I haven't been able to figure out how to post photos on this forum but I found flower buds on my WS tomato seedlings today. The plants are 18 inches tall and I've been repotting them in progressively bigger containers, setting them down low in the pots so they send roots out from the stems. They're healthy plants and I'm looking forward to the first tomato I pick. Some are regular size fruit while the others are grape tomatoes. With flowers this soon, I'm looking forward to eating tomatoes I grew from seed on the lettuce I grew from seed real soon. For someone who could never grow zucchini, this is a VERY BIG DEAL!!!

Lois, it looks great! This is not a big plant, but it makes a good amount of yum red fruits. It's one of my faves!

gardenweed, in order to get a picture to appear in this forum, I think most people link to a photo storage site like PhotoBucket or Picasa. The gallery forums also allow you to upload a picture into the forum itself, in the Preview step. (My apologies if that's all stuff you already knew, I've been told I have a rare talent for stating the obvious. :o)) I could email you some more detailed directions for either linking to a photo site or uploading a picture into a gallery forum, if you'd like. Just send me an email if you are interested.

Trudi, you probably guessed the Sibirskij Stambovyj seeds are from you.. The funny thing is, I don't even like tomatoes unless they are part of a spaghetti sauce or salsa. I'm growing them for DH, who acted like I gave him a million dollars when I handed him a tomato that ripened on the vine last summer. I also enjoy the stories behind some of the heirloom tomatoes like mortgage lifter. I've also had many generous offers from people I didn't know I knew to help eat any extra tomatoes, so if I do get a bumper crop this year from the 16 that I planted, none will go to waste.

Lois, I share tom seeds knowing that many people will share the fruits of their labors with others--that's why I do it.

Lois, you'll get ripe brandywines. In the past I've always had at least one brandywine plant, never planted out till Memorial Day weekend and had ripe brandywines by mid-to-late August. They were developed by the Amish in Pennsylvania so they're suited to this area.
