Pictures

I feel funny posting these, since I am so far behind everyone else here. In fact my tulips just now finished blooming, and my Irises just started.

But anyway I finally had time to gather up all my photos and put them on-line in an album. I did a sort of progression through the year so far. There are about 60 images, and there is no way I would try to put them all here! So I will add the link to my flicker page below.

Now I have done winter sowing in the past, and this year too. But it's to early for any of them to bloom yet. I will show them when I can.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful gardens.

I love the feeling of moving from one oasis to another the way you've laid out the front beds.

Photos with water droplets are great...especially one with droplet hanging off end of Dicentra blooms.

The Iris are lovely...old iron maidens those Iris. I like the pale peach and yellow which are different than the standard blues, violets and burgundy we've got.

The slide show was a great walk through your gardens. Our Spring bulb blooms got sheared off by heavy rains so it's nice to see what they're supposed to look like for more than just a day or two!

I can't believe you've got a Monarch butterfly already. Haven't seen a single one yet this year and Milkweed is just waiting on them. Is that Centaura it's nectaring on?

We're going into a Summer that's still pretty much Spring.

Now we know how you all up in the lower zones feel like for short season. :)

Thanks again and don't feel "funny" about posting pics. Your gardens and overal layout are beautiful. I never tire of seeing beautiful gardens and plants.

great pictures. Spring is my favorite as well as fall, I am not enamored by summer as it is expected to have tons of blooms...

Yes that is a pansy, but I don't know what kind, I purchased a flat of mixed colors from the local nursery.

I love your columbine! I do have a thing for any columbine... yours is beautiful!

The shoes cracked me up! You're right, it does need the perfect hat to go with them!! ;)

Everything was so pretty!! Although every chart I look at has me in zone 5, my sprouts are so far behind, I swear it's really zone 4! Most are still stuck in the sprout stage, with no true leaves yet. The only thing I have blooming is alyssum and peas! My tomatoes are doing ok... but sheesh!

You sure give me hope for next year!

Please, if you have a chance, show us what's up for you this year. I would love to see!!

    Thanks Nancy
I am not sure I understand your question, when you ask me to show you what's up this year. You mean in the veggie garden? If so, LOL, there are so many weeds out there it's hard to see anything up! The DH is out there trying to find the actual seedlings right now. His poor beans and sunflowers were mowed by rabbits twice, so they would have been a LOT further along.

This prompted the ugly wire fence, someday I hope to have a nice picket fence around the veggie garden, he can grow his veggies inside, and I can have the outside for my flowers, sounds like a good plan to me!

But I can try can get some pictures.

Jenny, when I asked you what's up, I meant, show us what you winter sowed this year!

Now why the heck can't those bunnies eat weeds? So selective, they are!! I have problems with the tree rats... for some reason they just love to dig in my window boxes!

I like seeing some spring blooms given that it has been 90+ here the last couple days. It lets me imagine that it is really cooler than what it is. Nice photos.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Jenny. They are very lovely.
I cut back the last of my iris blooms tonight so we are not so far ahead of you. Delphiniums, daisies, dianthus, salvias and clematis are blooming now. There are a few bleeding hearts still clinging to the bushes.

Is that red and white clump of tulips a species tulip? I like how it forms a nice clump. The yellow & white columbine is very beautiful. Nice butterfly photo. I have not seen any monarch's yet, saw the first butterfly yesterday, it was a large white.

Your red bed is further along than mine. What is the tall red plant in the upper left? I have some red blooming plants potted but haven't gotten the bed dug yet. Am extending a small one by the mailbox.

    HI
I am not sure about the tulips, I bought the package on sale at a big box store 5 or 6 years ago. They have come up and bloomed nicely ever since.

The red bed is very new, my Dh made the bed for me last year, I had no idea what I was going to plant in it. Then I managed to keep a dahlia over winter, broke it up and ended up with 8 red dahlia's. So I decided to do a red bed.
LOL the tall red plant is my cheater rose! We were getting ready for graduation, and were in Lowes on Mother's day. They were having a sale, Roses in 2 gallon pots for $5 each. I know they won't last through one of our winters, but I figured the impact I would get for $5 was well worth it! I ended up buying 4! Can't resist a good deal!
