WANTED: Black bamboo

I'm looking for a kind soul who will offer a piece of a black bamboo that will survive in part shade, Zone 6B (suburban Washington DC) and grow to be at least 30 feet tall to screen a window from a new Mcmansion being built next to me. I pick black bamboo because I thought it looked so exotic.

Since I'm new to bamboo, I can't offer any in trade although I can offer blue monkshood divisions and several varieties of spiderwort. Or I would be happy to pay postage and handling.

I've dealt with bamboo before, so I know all the potential runner problems. I did consider planting bamboo with a barrier only on my side so it could run all over the new house's lot. But I just couldn't bring my self to go there.

Right now, I'm planning on planting in two cedar planters I have that have no drainage holes. I may switch to a 60 ml barrier at some point to put them in the ground, although I love the plastic barrel idea I read on one post on the bamboo forum.

Hope some one will feel generous,

KimKa
