HAVE: Banana Trees

I have Banana Trees. They get LARGE! The ones pictured are about 4 months old. I have large lots like this all over the property and small young ones too ( only 1-3ft high right now)they WILL get large tho, they don't stay small for long.

The adults here are 14-16ft with huge leaves in light shades of green. The only maint I give them here it I trim off yellowing leaves. Each plant I have here keeps making lil ones! As do the lil ones once they hit about 4-5ft tall.

I am new to this but the small ones ship fairly easily. I have sizes from 4inches to 16ft. Not interested in getting the giants out of the ground right now tho ;-)

I love color, flowers/foilage, have veggie gardens, fruit trees and tropicals down! Looking to do lotsa color and have space.

I've gone to Goodwill to look for one ($10), as I like one or two outdoors in the summer intermixed with real potted plants and flowers and it's hard to tell if they are real or not. Their height works well in the planting "vignette" on a deck. I bring them in during the winter and store in a corner in the basement. Personally, I wouldn't place in a living room, unless you want to fill a corner on a temporary basis until budget or circumstances allow.

Rather than display a family tree, I'm planning and working on a gallery wall in my home office of ancestral photos--none more recent than my grandparents, and some that go back to the US civil war. I'll keep it all in black and white for consistency and design, with black frames, white mats, and the photos themselves, b&w. Many of the photos have a sepia tone to them, and that blends well. In the absence of a photo for an ancestor (after all, most of our ancestors would obviously pre-date photography!), I frame copies of a birth or marriage certificate, a photo of the church in which they were married or christened, a signature on a land deed or land grant, a plat map, letter, the family itemized on a ship's manifest, etc--also copied in black and white and framed the same. I'll try to keep it mostly a "people" wall, so it doesn't get cluttery looking. Because of the wide variety of sizes of photos, ranging from teeny locket size to cabinet cards to over-the-mantel parlor sized, I've had some copies resized for a more consistent look.

Does anyone have experience to grow banana tree in pot outdoor in north texas? I am thinking to grow banana to decorate for my garden but dont want to grow it on the ground. However, i dont know if it could survive during the winter If i grow it in the pot. Advices? This is my garden, im not satisfied yet cuz it looks kinda boring now. i looking for some ideas

Can you post a photo of the weed including a close up of the leaves? if it has a woody stem, you can usually cut it down to the ground and carefully paint the cut off stump with full strength roundup concentrate. You might have to do it several times. Black plastic and mulch will not be likely to kill something as vigorous as you describe. Best if you identify it first.

I would love one of your banana tree pups! I have some tricolor ginger, cannas, jade, schefflera, christmas cactus, cuttings, tons of veggie seeds, just name what your looking for. :)

That'd be awesome. Just started cannas and want a variety :-) I have tons of plants avail for trade just haven't had the time to post offers in each catagory :-( busy season here of some great projects! But bananas I have an abundence of all sizes...happy to trade pups that are easily shipped (foot or less in size usually in a flat rate box and I can get a few in a box :-) Have larger ones but not sure about shipping or costs...don't have a lot of money to burn for larger shipping due to weight i'd think they're costly but never looked into it.

I have finally settled into my long tern home here in Oklahoma. The transfers are over I hope. The only issue I have is starting all over again, though I keep digging and moving special plants and taking them with me and replanting them. The one thing I've always hoped to have, are baby banana plants. I have fresh white pumpkin seeds as well as fresh Hyacinth Bean Vine Seeds that are just beautiful. Sadly I don't have much more to trade at this time since I'm having to begin all over again. Let me know if your interested. I can't much offer what most other people can, but, what I have your most welcome to have.
