That's certainly very interesting. I've never heard of a banana cultivar cycling that quickly. Of course, it would be interesting to know the size of the pups being planted out-on commercial plantations "sword suckers" for planting out are usually rejected if less than 3 feet tall. But anyway, very interesting. If it does in fact cycle that quickly, I may have to get some.

Meant to say the article chronicles the trialing of this banana in South Georgia. But I wonder if it might not work up here too.

Regarding the size of the pup, all they said was that they harvested 'field-grown suckers' late in the Fall, overwintered them in a greenhouse, then planted them out in late April/early May. The pups had an average height of 2.5 feet when set out. They were starting to harvest bananas in October of that growing season.

That sounds great! Maybe it will go to tissue culture and we can all get one soon. Wonder what the nanners will taste like? Let me know if you find a source for these.

I got my order from Going Bananas, but it's still small and getting started. I don't expect any bananas this year.
