Looks like Thrip damage.

Have you used any herbicides nearby? It almost looks like some type of growth regulator. Any olive trees around that may have been sprayed with something to stop the fruit production? It could have drifted to your plants.

It is either Thrips or Aphids. Both are very bad this year.
To check for Thrips get a piece of white paper and put it under the leaves. Then tap or shake the branch. If you see very tiny little skinny things crawling on the paper its Thrips.
Had them on my nectarine.

Thanks for the insight. I sprayed a neem pesticide last week and have now cut off the damaged parts. I am hoping no more damage will occur.
No herbicides. I am trying to be organic. (But the bermuda is relentless.)
Can always count on you guys.

Hope its not Thrips because if it is, they will be back they are relentless. I would rather have aphids.

By the time I see the damage done by the Thrips, they are long gone. They attack my Cara Cara orange tree every year, but the damage is less & less because of the huge load of Lacewings that have moved in.
I've never had to spray.

Herbicide overspray was my first thought too. I do not see how thrips would cause that massive leaf elongation.

I didn't see any kind of bug on the plant. Odd.

The lacewings are here, so things are looking up.
