Siam ruby/margarita is very picky about winter temps and winter watering. If It's not 70 degrees where it is, water it very sparingly. I wouldn't mess with the pups this time of the year, it stresses them to separate them and they sound like they're already stressed. So it's not a good time to separate them now at all.
The best thing you can do is set the pot on a heat mat so that the roots stay warm. Maybe then you'll even see some growth on it before spring if you have it in a bright environment. Keep it light and warm and you'll have no problems. Short of that and you might lose it before spring.

Thanks, Sandy...what I meant was that some of the leaves
on the mother plant are bent and tattered ( I take them off)
I guess I should wait until spring to do ANYTHING. Thanks
for the tip of not overwatering it. :) i'm still getting new leaves in the top of both mother and pups.
