Banana leaf & cooking ?

I was wanting to maybe try growing a banana.
Usually I buy banana leaf for cooking at an oriental grocery shop the package only says import from Thailand. These banana leaves are very fragrant. Now if I grow a normal banana plant can I use it in cooking or are some types of banana plants that have more scented fragrance than others ?
