Hope someone has some good advice here; I bought a peach that died. I saw some really pretty dwarf peaches at A & P last weekend. I may ask them about the advisability of planting one now.

In Arizona, at least in the valley you have to plant fruit trees right around new years. while the trees are dormant if not i've found that they always die. it is possible to plant another right now but it will be really really hard on the tree, you will need to put some sort of shade over the tree and really watch your watering to make sure it doesn't dry out at all.

Best time to plant apples and peaches is oct. Right before dormancy. As far away from summer heat as possible.

RSI growers has hundreds of fully adapted Phoenix grown fruit trees that are ready to plant anytime. Why buy freshly imported fruit trees from California(that take a long time to adapt to our harsh climate) when we have a grower right here??!? We are big fans of RSI and love the trees they have supplied us for our orchard.

Thanks for the advice. I kind of already knew it would be pushing my luck (I've lived in Arizona for 10 years, so I know the brutality of our summer), but wanted to confirm it. I'll be patient and wait till the fall then! At least my 2 peaches and my other apple are looking very happy right now! Hope they can make it through their first summer- got get them some more shade, though.

Isn't RSI a wholesaler? Either way, wholesale or retail, where do you get the trees?
