My favorite so far is Ruby Star. In addition to the dark red and interesting details, the flower opens wide and is much flatter than others I have grown (no offense to trumpets).

I find that I am enjoying doubles more than I had expected. Aesthetically, I prefer single blooms, but I get to enjoy the doubles for longer because I am not able to pollenate them! Of the doubles, my favorite is blossom peacock which is much more symmetrical than some and is quite fragrant.

Flamenco Queen is one of my favorites! The contrast of the kiwi-fruit green colored throat and the red petals is really striking in person. I have yet to see a photo that accurately captures what I see in person. In photos, I love Chico and Papilio... I haven't successfully bloomed my own yet though! Mandonii is another amazing species! Every time I've bid on one on eBay, I have been outbid (and usually outbid by a lot). -Tina

I am sorry mandonii is so expensive... I saw on mario's website Hippeastrum glaucescens and psitaccinum which seem rather similar in pattern (according to google pictures). you might be able to purchase seeds of those.

Wow! That is really pretty! No need for flowers...

that's why i bought them ;) and i like the pink-red colour of the bulb.
have 10 reticulatums in total.

It does look like a Flamenco Queen to me too. This was mine last year. No flowers this year as the mother bulb was damaged by the Narcissus Bulb Fly but there are 3 or 4 offsets so I expect great flowers soon.

Snarfie, I had not noticed the dark pink colour of the bulb before you mentioned it. I thought maybe the bulb was sunburned. silly me, it looks weird like that dark pink.

I intended to open a discussion "what's your favorite?" (As regards all Hippeastrums, species, hybrids, Doubles...

I concour with several Adorators of the Knight-Star-Lily, that the modern hybrid "Flamenco Queen" is a worthy candidate. I just bought a cut flower and I cannot stop admiring it. Fortunately I have two good bulbs of this cultivar, which are in full green now, the leaves being huge and literally everwhere on my windowsill between the other Hippeastrums, and the "crop" is mature iow close to "decapitation" and storage.

Beautiful pictures! I always say that my favorite is the one that is flowering :) Of course that is difficult when the new ones come in and the others re-bloom.
Love the doubles. Elvas, Blossom Peacock, First Love and Red Flash grow well for me. Aphrodite is huge (both plant and flower) and amazing.
So many beautiful singles that it is impossible to pick.
Species, only Papilio has bloomed so far, so that is my favorite! And also because Hans has produced so many beautiful hybrids that it encouraged me to try some seedlings of my own.
