Wow, they look just like those from the store. Do you always get to finish eating all of them before they turn bad? Since none of mine flower yet, I'm just wondering if having so many banana trees means that there will be an over supply of bananas harvest at any one given time?

I have a goldfinger. It grows quite slowly. The mother is about 5-6 ft and the pup is 3.5 ft. Looks like the pup is growing quicker. I can't wait for mine to flower. Thanks for sharing the nice pix.

There are various ways of using bananas: eating, samples at the Farmer's markets, making new friends, kissing up to neighbors - you just have to be creative. Oh, and harvest them green (but mature) one hand at a time, to extend harvest.

My Mona Lisa is flowering and bananas are showing. How large should the bananas be before I pick them? Also, earlier in the season my Mona Lisa had a pup but both got uprooted while I was away. I replanted them deeper, the mama mona flowered but the pup has not done anything, wondering if I should just pull it?

Beautiful nanners! Don't forget, you can always freeze bananas and use later in smoothies, juicing, baking, etc. They should never 'turn bad'! If they do, put in your compost.
