Still germinating?

I am! Went to check the 'dud' pile yesterday and found one sprout of hardy Geranium Pratense Purple obtained in a trade. No true leaves yet, but the cotolydons are the deepest purple I've seen on any sprout in the last few years. Could be winners - found another today!

Oh, and red Buddleias sprouting too. Also obtained in a trade.

Life is good. The 'duds' are waking up!

What nice surprises, Tiffy. I had recorded my Astilbes as no-shows but went to re-sow last week and found one plant, with true leaves and I potted it up. I also found a canna, which I had given up on, sprouting just a few days ago. Ain't nature great??!!!
BTW have you ever over-wintered buddleia in your zone, or do you grow it as an annual? I'd love to have one against the fence in my butterfly/hummingbird garden.

Mine have been overwintering quite well. In your zone, I would mulch it well and try to locate it in a micro-climate area of your gardens since you are below zone 5. In the spring - not the fall - trim the branches back to a few inches from the ground as it will grow from the base again every year. It's also a late emerging plant, sometimes only appearing in June, so don't give up on it too early.

Woo Hoo, Tiffy! I had the same thing happen a few days ago! I put all my non-sprouters together in one area, and I've been watering them occasionally, but haven't really been holding out too much hope (trying to get up the nerve to just chuck them). But I checked and found two geraniums with seed leaves, a Claridge Druce and a Splish Splash. Gonna pot them up and grow them on and see how they do.

A red Buddleia? Sounds really pretty. All I have is blue.

Same here! I had moved all of the remaining containers to the opposite side of the house, which only gets a couple of hours of late afternoon sun. I was still watering them, but I really didn't expect to see anything. Just a few days ago, I noticed some pepper sprouts, gaillardia 'Burgandy', chives, and aquilegia (Columbine). Definitely a pleasant surprise! Especially the gaillardia, since the first batch of sprouts I planted out have bit the dust. I'm going to leave these sprouts there until they are bigger, and the weather cools down a bit. Doubt they would survive if transplanted when it's near 100 degrees.

    So nice to hear!

Haven't been watering mine, but we've had ideal weather so the rain comes about every four days and waters everything. Since they are in dappled shade, I don't worry about the moisture that much with the weather schedule being so constant.

I'm potting up the two geraniums tonight. Being careful though because there might still be more seeds to germinate in there, eh? :O)

Me too! I found a 4" canna sprout! How did it grow so fast before I noticed it!?

In between the thunderstorms today I found 4 more morning glory seedlings, columbine and 4 tiny tim tomato seedlings.

Gotta love those no show containers.
