For instance, I never thought about how humidity affects pollination. During these weeks of bone-dry air, I might have gotten a few more tomatoes if I'd sprayed the foliage as mentioned in this article.

I remember that my mother used something called blossom set to help set fruit. Lots of people swear by it and I suppose there's nothing to be lost by trying it. I do think our weather extremes make it less likely to work here than down South.
