Well, they might.

One of the criteria that is needed to be met in the process of obtaining a plan patent is an assurance that the plant will breed true from its own seed. So, if the variety you are wishing to save seeds from is patented then its offspring will be similar.

Patented plants cannot be asexually propegated for profit. People who own greenhouses or commercial nurserys are forbiding from cloning or dividing these plants to increase and profit from sale of stock.

However, a home gardener can save the seeds and grow them at home to use in their garden. If you trade or share these plants do not call them by their patented name.

Thanks Trudi. Boy, I don't know if mine are patened or not. I don't even know their names, so I guess that takes care of that problem.

Whatever you get, they will be lovely. So grow them from seed and you'll you'll very soon see the variety of leaves. The seedlings quickly show themselves, if you don't have to wait months and months to behold what the leaves look like. I have grown heuchera from seed and the seedlings generally show their leaf types within a few weeks of sprouting. As the season progresses some veining may become more pronounced and in Autumn they react to lesser sun hours and cooler temps just like deciduous trees where their fall colors are just amazing.
