This FAQ link below contains a great dealing of information on the basics of growing amaryllis, getting blooms, and maintaining the bulbs/plants throughout the year. It is a "must read" for those new to growing Hippeastrum/amaryllis.

Emily, since you are a Houzz moderator, maybe you can help. I have contacted Houzz at least 4 times and have asked them to permanently post a link to the FAQ under "related posts", like what was done for the butterfly garden forum here: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/butterfly

Can you pull some strings?

The FAQ are great, but they keep drifting down the list of questions. Please hard tie them at the top of the posts!
