Dessert Banana?

I have what was labeled a "Dessert Banana" and after lots of patience finally had a chance to taste it - not very tasty!!! Do various cultural practices alter the potential flavor of the fruit? For example, more potassium in fertilizing?

Besides Ice Cream Banana, which are the most flavorful?
