i've heard good things of this company.....no personal experience, though, i plan to order from them this year.

here is a link to a rating of this company

i couldn't find any info on the Rate & Review Vendors forum

I've ordered from them... last fall, in fact... I give them very high ratings! The bulbs were beautiful and the packaging was superb! I plan to order from John Scheeper's again this coming fall!

Hey folks! Let me give you a hint...Get a look at Van Engelen's catalog. They are the wholesale branch of John Scheepers, and the amies are considerably cheaper! If you are up for 3 of a kind (Or split them among friends and give as gifts, you will save about 1/3 on cost!

I recieved both catalogs in todays mail and I have my list made out, LOL.

eckonc-I have had excellent experiences with both Scheepers and Van Engelen's the last few years. Bulbs are usually huge and healthy and so far, neither has sent me a mis-labeled bulb. Plus, a lot of the bulbs they have sent me already had offsets! A bonus.

We got our catalogs in the mail yesterday... I can't wait to go through them and choose some new acquisitions! It's still spring, and here we are getting all excited about the coming hippi season... which is really still quite a ways off! What is wrong with us?!!

    Thanks everyone.

I did a search in the forum database, and found out that John Scheepers, Inc. has an impeccable reputation. I just placed an order for $42.50, and shippment is only $4.25 (10%), which is really reasonable and fair.

Compared to the incredibly awful experience I recently had with Wayside Gardens, this is consumer/customer paradise.

I got both catalogs in the mail yesterday as well. Ordered from them last fall. Great packaging.

The packaging practices of John Scheeper's are more than anyone could ask for... I was astonished upon opening my package last fall! A far cry from many other places I've ordered from before, that's for sure! Extremely well-protected bulbs... and the larger bulbs, like Hippis, were in their own little boxes inside the big box! Impressive company!

I, too, received both of these catalogs. I took a few minutes to quickly flip through and am drooling over them. They have Snow White again. Although quite sure that bulb is still in my collection (albeit small), plan to order it again. I'm so excited about placing an order, but don't have a clue where I'll put them. It takes one of our own kind to appreciate the thrill of looking through these catalogs :-)

I'm trying to contain myself... and it's not easy! I've got my catalogs all ready to order... the bulbs I really want to get are all marked in red pen! By summer's end, I'll be sending in my orders... I don't want to order too early, or too late...

Drooling is just part of being a bulb addict... it helps to keep a box of Kleenex next to the computer! LOL!

I have ordered from Scheepers several times. Wonderful bulbs, and really nice people to deal with when I had a mislabeled bulb. I am definitely ordering from them again.

    Methinks not, ever again.

I ordered 265.20 of seeds after hours, so no conversation or chat options. But I DID send 2 emails, questioning the date of the seeds (last year's or upcoming season's?) and the cost of shipping - 10% of order. Not so bad for $10/20-worth. But a *small* box of seeds that I would spend about $5 to ship was ***$26.52***

"It ways so on the website" is the ONLY company response - from line staff and from supervisor. If I had ordered $500, fit in the same box, they would charge $50 to mail!

Seeds are undated - no indication of which season they are packed for. No one else does that. When you ask, they respond "what kind of company do you think we are?"

I will NEVER order again from these folks. They made at least $20 to ship that package that was NOT cheap seeds!!! No "sorry," no "yeah that's high," NOTHING.

There's an old adage, consistently true - a satisfied customer will tell a few people - but an angry customer will tell 10 times more!

I've ordered from Scheepers and van Engelen, and been very happy with both. Scheepers was very quick and accomodating last year when I got a mislabeled bulb. They were out of the one I wanted by that time, but issued a full refund and told me to keep the mislabeled one.

You must work there, to have replied to my comment within the hour, when the rest of the thread seems to be from 2008 . . . . . . bulbs are probably more economical to ship (10% of a large bulb order *would* cost more). But seeds . . that's nuts. And no response to email shows up in other review sites as well.

LOL, no I don't work there! I just saw your comment and didn't even notice that the original thread was from 2008. When you reply to a thread it immediately pops to the top of the list. I do stand by my experience with the company, though.

Sorry I replied when you just wanted to rant.

Well, not so much to rant as to warn others - I just think that for seeds that is astronomical price. I have ordered the Van Englen bulbs, and 10% of that is reasonable shipping. Maybe they have different customer service that is more friendly. And maybe seed buyers are subsidizing the bulb purchases . . =:-\\

I have ordered from scheepers many times. Only once have I had a

problem. The amaryllis bulbs were a little soft. Was send replacements

at no charge to me. Told me to keep the soft bulbs. They bloomed.

    very happy with these folks.
