A popular seeded Bermuda is Princess77. It's a Bermuda hybrid that grows in sunny areas and produces a very durable, dense, dark green and fine-textured turf. Salt River Project did some trials on this grass and found that it stayed green nearly year round if we don't have extremely cold winters.

Prepare the area for seeding by watering the soil and then allow it to dry a few days. It should be moist but not stick to a shovel. Then loosen the soil with a spade or rototiller and then smooth and rake the soil to the point of having a smooth firm seedbed.

Where is AZ are you?

Bermuda is a good choice. Don't believe the hype about Princess. I know a few people that have it and you do not get green but a week or two longer than hybrid Bermuda. I think a better choice would be Paspalum. I have this and it held onto about 30% green at worst and greens up much sooner. I would also not use rototiller as this will leave you with an uneven lawn once everything settles. Use a tracker with a box blade. Do not overseed it this year.
